I have spent a good part of my life trying to please other people. This is reflected in the type of work I have done, and the relationships in my life. I am a forgiver but... I have done so in a deprecating and unhealthy way. Of course, through decades of experience, this has never worked - never. You cannot change another persons behavior no matter how many times you forgive the nonsense. If you tell someone they are hurting you, and they don't change or try to understand, then they just don't care. It is a fact. How you deal with that knowledge will set the tone for your life.
I pledge today to walk my talk, take no shit, and practice self care with the vigor and focus I would have in the past trying to get someone to treat me with respect. The way to peace and harmony in the world is to create a foundation of peace and harmony within oneself.
If you wish to shine your light and have it reflected back to you, you must work from the inside out with forgiveness, love, and the caretaking required to clean house of the negative thoughts and behaviors that hold you back from happiness and true natural contentment.
A genuinely spiritual path means doing no harm. Include yourself. It means tending to the body with healthy food. Include yourself. It means compassion, love and forgiveness. Include yourself. Tell the truth. Get honest. It serves no greater purpose to allow others to treat you badly and to lie to you repeatedly. Walk away.
Open the window to your soul and let the fresh air swirl around your body and caress your heart. When you have this gift, you can freely give it to others. It doesn't cost a thing and you can live in harmony with yourself - fully integrated, fully alive, and fully in love with your life. You will have achieved the respect you crave; from yourself.
Namaste
